Fake eBay Car Clutch Parts - Buyers Beware

Fake eBay Car Parts

* I bought a "Exedy (Daikin) clutch kit" from eBay. I was thinking I could get another 120,000 miles out of this clutch as the original clutch lasted that much.
The clutch was working fine until I heard something when I pressed the clutch pedal. After that the gear would not go in anymore. I took out the transmission and see what happened.
I found that on the clutch disk where you suppose to find springs, this clutch disk had rubber like parts that the rubber mallet is made of.  The clutch failed just over 40,000 miles! When I was installing this fake clutch, I thought the springs were inside the rubber. I was wrong.
This disk was not Daikin ( Excedy ) made but cheaply made fake junk clutch made in China.
I can not sell cameras or lenses from eBay now as I can not drive to go to the post office.

Please be careful what you buy from eBay. They sell fake items. If you do not find springs on the clutch disk ( they look black piece where springs sit) The clutch will fail anytime!

http://tinyurl.com/hva2lcq  This is busted. The box says "Exedy" with a picture of the clutch with springs showing! They put a label over the parts number and the box is written in Chinese. The Chinese characters written on the box reads from right to left as in Chinese. Japanese is written from left to right. The words written there reads from right to left.

I bought the clutch kit this time from Rockauto ( some parts are O.K.from this place.) The brand was LUK and the clutch disk has the springs. My 26 years old car is once again running. Off I go to the post office and groceries.

Update: After replacing the clutch disk and pressure plate using LUK brand, the clutch is still working well after one year. My old fake junk clutch disk had problem shifting in gears during the winter time. I was thinking maybe the transmission was going bad. It was the junk clutch that was causing all these problems.

Update
2015 January. LUK clutch is still running fine. My car is a 1987 Honda product. Old cars were made to last :)

Update
2017 January. LUK clutch is still running fine. My car will be 30 years old in February.

Update
2023 January. LUK clutch is still running fine. I can not drive my car because the radiator is leaking and I can not find the replacement radiator anywhere.

Konica Auto S2 Jan 2013

I have started on the overhaul of another Konica Auto S2 this morning.

I bought the camera from eBay.
I noticed couple of problems.

First one is the scratch on the back cover. This was not described on the auction page :)
The second one is the cosmetic problem on the film wind lever and someone put a wrong cap over the wind lever.
Luckily, I have a good back cover and film wind cover set.

The shutter speed ring and aperture rings are stiff from old grease.
The shutter is still working fine but I will be taking it apart for cleaning.

Sometimes the shutter on Konica Auto S2 has cracked casings. This problem develops when someone tries to forcefully move the self timer lever when the flash synch button is set on "M".

The shutter casing on this camera was good so I have proceeded to further disassembly.
I noticed something different about the shutter blade placement than the shutters that I had worked on before.
On all the other shutters on Konica Auto S2, they had small blade spaces from 1 to 4 blades at the bottom and the spacer on top over the last shutter blade.
On this shutter, the small spacers are from 2 to 4 at the bottom and no spacer at the 5 but the first shutter blade had two baldes which makes the beginning and the last shutter blade.
I believe Copal revised the shutter on the later Konica Auto S2.

All the shutter blades and aperture leaves have been cleaned.
The camera has been restored and ready to be purchased.
It is available from eBay, eCrater or from my web site.
